What may help ease the pain?

Gentle heat on your lower abdomen, with a cloth protecting the skin, and light activity may help. Ask a professional before choosing medication. Seek care if pain disrupts your activities or becomes unusual.

When is urgent care needed?

Severe or worsening pain, fainting or heavy bleeding need urgent assessment. Pain with fever or a possible pregnancy also requires prompt medical advice. Do not wait for a routine appointment if these signs occur.

Do painful periods mean endometriosis?

Not necessarily. Endometriosis may cause severe menstrual pain, but other causes exist. Symptoms alone cannot establish a diagnosis.
